Inspired by Sister Dorothy, the people of Anapu and the Sisters of Notre Dame have undertaken an ambitious reforestation project. Watch this video, which explains it all.

A $15 donation will foster one tree, which will then be planted in Anapú,Brazil, where Dorothy lived and worked.

April 11 I had another reading at Flyleaf, this time with Carol Henderson’s group of writers. Click on the picture for a bigger look.
I attended NCEA in Minneapolis to scout all the Catholic publishers. Informative and tiring! Bonus: stayed with college roommate and her family.
April 28 I presented Dorothy Stang to the New York Archdiocesan Religion Teachers in hopes of their incorporating her story into their curriculum.
May 6 Peter and I enjoyed the Conservation International benefit dinner at the Museum of Natural History. Juarate and Roger Altman donated 500 copies of A Journey of Courage for the gift bags.

March 18 I spoke at the Deacon’s Program of the Archdiocese of Boston. I read from the book, talked a lot about Dorothy and showed clips from the film “The Student, The Nun and The Amazon”. Here I am with Dan Burns and Sister Mary Reardon, SNDdeN.
March 19 Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, MA. I had the pleasure of talking in two class periods to a total of 80 students about Sister Dorothy. Because of their environmental and social justice curricula, many of them knew something about this activist nun.
